Follow below the processes involved in re grinding a crankshaft.
Step 1
The crankshaft is acid bathed to remove any metal or oily buildups and then placed in the Lectro Magnaflux crack tester to see if there are any cracks in the journals.
Step 2
If the crankshaft does not meet manufacturers specification, the crankshaft will require grinding to suit undersize bearings.
Step 3
If the crankshaft comes within the manufacturers specifications the crankshaft will be polished/linished ready for reuse.
Each crankshaft is polished/linished after each grind ready for fitment.
